Demo at Tenaya Lodge

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I’m here just outside of Yosemite asking participants these three familiar questions:

1. What is a blog?

It’s like a post. It’s a personal thing… for getting or sharing information. An online diary that others can respond to.

2. What is the two-way web?

Interactive. Social. You can produce things to put on the web. It’s a level playing field for all of us. Instant communication. Learners can become teachers.

3. What do these technologies mean for you and your students?

You’re not tied to location or time. It’s a way to connect – especially for students who are into this technology. New way of learning. It’s a way to preserve information – asynchronously. Writing is thinking… this provides deep and authentic ways for students to demonstrate their understanding. It motivates more students to participate.
